Fitness & Wellness
Healthy exercise is an excellent way to help manage your diabetes. Getting fitter reduces risks of heart disease, improves circulation, reduces blood pressure, keeps cholesterol down and makes you feel good.
You don’t need to exercise vigorously. Light jogging, swimming, biking or walking will do. What matters is to be regular. Aim for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week
When exercising, glucose is burnt at a faster rate. Keeping track of your glucose levels is the best way to build a sustainable and safe exercise routine. Test your blood sugar level before you begin, then during and after you finish exercising. Have a sugary drink ready just in case. Insulin dose adjustments may be necessary.
Remember to talk to your doctor before starting a new physical activity.
